Revealing the Real You

“There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child.
There are seven million” … -Walt Streightiff

Every once in a while, quite out of the blue, a day pops into your experience, the memories of which will last a while! Today was one of those days for me! I had the great pleasure of spending some time in the company of a master at living, a gentle man with a big shiny light that is bursting through huge bright blue eyes! His presence is enormous and unmissable and a trail of magic followed us everywhere we went! There was no moment only the present and nothing to do only that which we wanted…so very refreshing, like a breath of fresh air! As I was relaying the experience to a very good friend of mine, the only way I could describe it was ‘liberating’!

So what was it about this experience that was so special I hear you ask? Who could it have been that could cause such a stir? Well, I spent the day at a master class in how to live life! The teacher was a toddler! The teacher appeared and I, the student, was ready! I watched and I learned! And boy oh boy did I enjoy the experience! Did you ever feel that you were about to witness something awesome? Well that was how I felt as soon as we connected this beautiful, sunny morning and  the day unfolded naturally and simply. How wonderful to be immersed in such innocence and honesty, how deeply uplifting to be surrounded by such joy and laughter! One of the first things that was mentioned was ‘fancy dancing’! Well I never! I couldn’t wait to get home to partake in some of this and it was definitely one of the highlights hehe! And then there was the adventure! We set out on a big adventure, chatting as we were journeying along. We talked about big words and favourite colours and sheep and trees and cars and flowers and clothes and smells! We picked some pink flowers for his Mammy. Then, all of a sudden, he said “I think that’s enough adventuring, we will go back home now”! So turn we did and home we went!

Then, we decided that we would do some reading! Books that I used to read to my own children were taken out and this brought back some lovely memories for me! I could just feel his little imagination forming pictures in his mind as the words flowed from my mouth, pausing every now and again to ask a question or to point out something on the page! I knew that nothing else existed in this world except for this moment in time and he wasn’t wondering about what was going to happen in the future or worrying about something that happened in the past. He was just there, in the moment. There was no trying to be somebody, just being himself! He held a master’s degree in BEING TRUE TO HIMSELF with honours! There was no wondering what anybody was thinking of him, no awareness of external judgement, no wanting to hide his light in case anybody would feel uncomfortable! Oh no, this large beacon of light was shining for all to see and EVERYBODY had a smile on their face in his presence! I was in awe! A master at work! There was no denying that this was the only way to be! The sun was shining inside and out for all to see!

When he was leaving, he ran in the door with a box of sweets for me and he said “these are for you to say thank you for minding me and you can share them with me”! How awesome! And after choosing the exact ones that he liked for himself and his brother, he threw his arms around me gave me a big hug and kiss! What more could anybody ask for! Pure love on little legs would be a good description for this beautiful soul, I am so glad to have had the privilege to be in the presence of Source!

So until next time,

“There are no failures, just experiences and your reactions to them!” … Tom Krause

There is a story about a man who, as he was passing some elephants, suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” the trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? I think every one of us can relate to this story and the feeling of having failed at something or another over the years. Over time, we can begin to think that we are not capable of doing a particular thing and we accept this as the truth and limit ourselves to a very confined world. We think to ourselves ‘ah I tried that before and it didn’t work out, what is the point in trying it again and wasting my time, I don’t want to look like a fool!’ And this is how we start to shrink and contract and settle for a life that is ‘safe’ and ‘less than exciting’. However, if we could look at all the so-called ‘failures’ in our lives as just stepping stones along our path and decide to respond in a way that is positive, saying ‘ah well, at least I tried, now I know what doesn’t work so it makes my next attempt clearer!’ Treat it like a process of elimination, gathering momentum and staying focused on what we would like to achieve, trying this way and that until we succeed!

So, don’t limit yourself to a small world, stop confining yourself to a life that is restricted, break free of your mental boundaries and expand out into this magnificent kingdom that we live in! The world is your oyster! Don’t confine yourself any longer to the belief that you can’t do something, shatter those thoughts and beliefs and spread your wings and fly! YOU can do anything you set your heart on, if you just believe it! Go on, just try it and never mind what the outcome is, just enjoy every experience you encounter in your life and embrace every bit of it! So what if it takes you 10 attempts or 100! Which will you regret more…the things you did or the things you didn’t do?! It’s all a journey so let’s make it AWESOME! You will never know how far you can go until you have the courage to do it! And if you fall, just get up again… that’s all!

So until next time,

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

About five years ago a lad I know bought some acres that came up for sale. Some time passed and then, one day, a digger came in and began to make some foundations for his new home and, brick by brick, the house was built, standing tall with a majestic backdrop of mountains and fields. He moved in with his family and a new life began…

The years have gone by and many memories have been created in this tall house that stands quite majestically. Lots of work has taken place to prepare a field to the front of his home. First of all, it had to be levelled, then it had to be prepared for grass seed to be planted. A waiting game ensued to watch as the little green blades sprouted forth in all their glory, a gorgeous fresh green. Then, a fence was erected, walls were fixed, netting was put in place and fertilizer was spread. An amazing amount of attention to detail was applied over the space of a year and then ,a couple of days ago, I had the great pleasure of witnessing a much dreamed off moment when he reversed his jeep and trailer up to a gate and released his dozen sheep into the field in front of his home, the field of his dreams! The expression on his face was priceless and I watched as his wife recorded the moment from a distance! Now, to me, this meant nothing because I had not been involved in any of the unfolding of his dream but I knew that it was a moment he treasured. There was great excitement as we watched the twelve sheep run down the ramp into his field of dreams, it was amazing! I happen to know that this was his boyhood dream that I got to watch come to fruition, he was reaping his harvest after sowing seeds many, many years ago, a boy who had visualised it in his mind and now it was brought forth into reality.

So, what would a field of dreams look like to YOU? What dreams have you had since childhood that you have visualised over and over again, what seeds have you planted that are ready and waiting to burst through the surface of your imagination and spring forth into reality! You see, the seeds are already planted, that happens automatically when you have a vision. So how can the dream become REAL? A lot of the time, when we see somebody elses dreams materialise, we think that it happens overnight. Well, if you ask anybody who has achieved anything, mostly they will tell you that it has taken many steps and determination and belief and unwavering faith and passion and desire and focus! Don’t they say that an overnight success takes ten years! Now I’m not saying that it takes this long all the time. I have the belief that if you are passionate about something, nothing will get in the way of you manifesting it because ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’! When you feel real excitement about something, you just have a knowing within your very soul that it is possible to achieve and you are ready and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it! You become like a large magnet attracting everything and everybody that will help you along your journey to reaching your field of dreams, it’s simply amazing to watch as it all unfolds.

So NEVER EVER lose faith in YOUR FIELD OF DREAMS because it is there already waiting for YOU to find it…

Until next time,

Love from me, Marie X

“It costs you nothing to dream and everything not to!” … Rodney White

Anybody that ever achieved anything in history started with a VISION!

At 11.30am on May 29th 1953, Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norguay reached the top of the world, they were the first men to climb to the top of Mount Everest. For thousands of years, people had tried to reach the top, people died trying, so the general thought was that it couldn’t be done. And, since then, over a thousand people have done it! It suddenly became possible! Now I’m sure that these two men didn’t know how they were going to do it, they just knew that they would! Edmond Hillary was an ordinary Beekeeper in New Zealand, where did he ever get the idea that he could reach the top of Mount Everest when it was the belief that anybody that went up there would die. Tenzing Norguay was a Nepali  Sherpa Mountaineer.

Thomas Edison illuminated the world by having a vision of  inventing a light bulb. Apparantly, he failed 1,000 times before he succeeded and when he was asked how did it feel to have failed 1,000 times he said he didn’t fail, that it took him 1,000 steps to succeed! I’m sure Mr. Edison didn’t know how he was going to do it, he just knew that he would!

Take a look at the Wright Brothers, two bicycle mechanics that had a vision to invent air travel, look at how this has changed humanity! Can you imagine our world without it! It opened up a whole new world to all of us!

So what if these gentlemen hadn’t had their vision and an unwavering belief that they could achieve it! The were ordinary men that achieved extraordinary things. It didn’t cost them anything to have their dream, did it? And look at the outcome.

So what would YOU really like? What are YOUR dreams and visions? I would like to encourage you to create the life of your dreams and to live the life of your dreams! Think about what you would like because ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE and that has been proven in history over and over again! So come on, it will cost you absolutely nothing! What are your passions, what do you/would you love to do, what interests you, what lights you up? Get your vision going, feel it, get all your senses going as if it already exists, CLAIM IT! See it as already existing and KNOW that it is possible to reach it, all the time being grateful for what you already have. And I know, sometimes there can be a little voice in your head that will say “I’m not good enough or I’m not rich enough or I’m not confident enough or I’m not…” the list is endless! Just know that this is only a programme that is running in your subconscious mind that has been playing over and over again. The good news is that you can begin to start running a new programme from now on. You can create this new programme by reminding yourself over and over again on a daily basis of who you truly are with inspirational books, cds, dvds, personal mentors, visualisation, meditation, etc and, over time, this will become a habituated way of being and just watch as the magic unfolds!

“Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, you owe me…

Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole sky!” … Hafiz

I just love this quote, it says so much in those few words, short and sweet and filled with beauty! I feel very good indeed when I read it, offering me an image of such a loving, giving, kind, smiling sun that always shines, no matter what! So why does it feel so good I ask myself? I suppose I never really thought that way about the star that shines so brightly 24/7, day in and day out, relentlessly sharing its light with all that it encounters, having no demands on receiving a ‘thank you’ or a recognition or praise in any way. We are so quick to take our beautiful sun for granted, awakening each day to its light, to its warmth, to its shining in full glory (well sometimes hiding behind the clouds hehe). And if it is hidden by some grey clouds, we complain and moan about it and hope that a re-appearance is made real soon!

So how can we adopt this awareness in our everyday lives. It seems like a tall order doesn’t it?! Well, at least let’s be open to the possibility of it in some shape or form! It certainly encouraged me to think about myself and my life in a different way, reaching for the realisation that it feels good to shine from the inside out with love, offering light and warmth without expecting anything in return, just doing it because I want to. I have been blessed along my journey to have encountered some ‘bright, shining suns’ and, I have to say, they make this quote seem like it was written for them! It is such a wonderful experience to spend time in their company, NEVER expecting anything in return, loving who they are and what they do.  What I have noticed is that, when you experience this kind of unconditional love, you thrive! And, guess what, you start to become it yourself! It’s like you rise to the vibration and become like the energy that you are surrounded by, it is very interesting indeed! The illumination of the person seems to ignite the light within you and this offers you an opportunity to become like the sun yourself, revealing your true essence!

So really, the concept of this quote is to ask yourself what you can bring to the world rather than what you can get from it! How can YOU share your light, what can YOU do that will brighten up somebody’s day? What are your gifts and talents that you, and you alone, have that are just bursting to be shared and enjoyed! The planet is waiting to be illuminated by YOU, the choice is yours! Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean that you neglect yourself either… in order to give 100% of yourself, you must feel 100% fulfilled. In fact, it seems to be an automatic thing that, when you feel fully filled, you just overflow naturally! And, here’s the thing, when you give with an open heart, the Universe will conspire to the nature of your song and shower you with all the love in the world! It’s totally MAGIC…

So, together, let’s ILLUMINATE THE WORLD!!!

As I was sitting in my car waiting for my kids to come out from school the other day I was pleasantly treated to the sound of peals of laughter coming from outside! I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself at the very sound of people enjoying each others company, captured in a moment in time that I was privileged to overhear! It was so uplifting and joyful and it made me realise how wonderful laughter really is. I mean, I was just sitting there in my wee world and, suddenly, I became part of another world! Now I have no idea what the laughter was all about but I sure felt the benefit of it because I couldn’t help myself, I just had to laugh out loud too! And it felt very good indeed!

Have you ever noticed how fabulous it feels to have a good belly laugh? Sometimes, you can laugh until you cry and you have such a pain in your side! It is an amazing feeling! I have been treated to this experience on many occasions and it is the best gift that you can give yourself and others. Keeping things light, even in the midst of turmoil, can be life transforming. I used to know a gentleman and, no matter the occasion or the location, he had an amazing gift of telling a joke or sharing his humour which seemed to help dissolve anxiety and transport others to another land that they had forgotten existed! He would have everybody in fits of laughter, forgetting all about their troubles just for that moment! His eyes would twinkle and his smile would melt the hearts of those in his company, extracting the light from within! I realise now that there is enormous healing to be experienced within this energy. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. It can also trigger healthy physical changes in the body like strengthening your immune system, boosting your energy and reducing pain and stress! And it’s free!

So if you are looking for a little  ‘pick me up’, let’s have a look at what you could do this very moment! A lot of the time, when we are experiencing a difficult moment, we tend to delve deeper into it and try to work out the whys and the hows and discuss it with others to see what they think. However, as Einstein said, ‘You can’t solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it’ so it’s best to change your thinking to something else and totally distract yourself, even if it is only for a few minutes, it can work wonders! A solution may suddenly become clear or the ‘problem’ might actually disappear!  And one of the ways that I find helps me is to LAUGH! So, maybe watch a funny movie, read a joke book, call a friend and chat about some fun times you have had in the past, watch some dvds of your favourite comedian…it’s MAGIC!

So, come on, laugh your way into a happy vibration!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,

gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightening about shrinking so that

other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God

that is within us. It’s not just in some of us;

it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give other people permission

to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear,

our presence automatically liberates others.

– Nelson Mandela, 1994 Inaugural Speech

(from Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love)

This is one of my favourite pieces of writing, I just thought I’d share it with you! So, with a smile on your face and love in your heart, allow your own light to shine! NEVER compromise who you are… you are here with unique gifts and talents and hopes and dreams and YOU AND ONLY YOU can share these with the world! There is nobody else on the planet right now, or ever, that has been like YOU!!!

Until next time,
